Environmental Impact

We believe that the best way to preserve the landscape and minimise the effect on local residents is to strictly control the number of participants per event. We have spoke at length with local farmers, residents, the National Trust and the National Park authority to make them aware of how we conduct our operations. We firmly believe that to sustain our outdoor activity operations in the future it is essential to follow best practice and a set of firm set of rules which greatly minimise any impact on areas of outstanding beauty.

Our small group policy is specifically designed to minimise impact on the rural infrastructure - roads, footpaths & communities local to our operations.

  Group Management and Safety
We believe that with larger groups there is a greater risk to effective group management with inevitable compromise in safety standards. Our group size philosophy minimises our impact on heavily trafficked regions and local communities whilst always maintaining complete group safety. We rigidly work with ratios of 1:8 to ensure all of our clients safety whilst in a mountainous environment and our maximum number at any one time is 16 (2 groups of 8 people) always led by professional mountain instructors and as a rule the 2 groups are spread out. One thing to be aware of is that many 3 Peak Challenge providers bus hundreds of people into Snowdonia, The Lake District and Lochaber in the name of fundraising for good causes without, it would seem, any thought given to the major impact this has with such large volumes of people at any one time. Further more, people are in many cases totally unsupervised or not even led by professionally qualified mountain leaders which adds adds unecessary risk to individuals participating and in many cases can lead to the emergency services being called out.

Litter - prior to any of our events we brief all individuals participating of the impact on the enviroment issues that can be caused due to litter. In many cases our groups and instructors collect 'other people' little whilst out in the outdoors and dispose of this accordingly in the appropriate waste bins. We also segregate any of our waste as a rule and we refill drinks bottles from reused 5 litre plastic water bottles to greatly minimise the amount of plastic we buy.
