The Lake District Ultra Challenge
New for 2011 we have designed another adventure challenge event due to customer demand! The Lake District Ultra Challenge is an adventure journey starting at Pooley Bridge by Ullswater and finishing in the village of Coniston. Forget so called 'Commando' Challenges that are advertised and get stuck into a real physical challenge travelling through the Lake District pushing you physical and mental abilities whilst undertaking 5 different outdoor disciplines.
- Paddle the length of Ullswater from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding (sea kayaks)
- Bike from Glenridding over Kirkstone Pass to Hodge Close by Coniston
- Undertake a 120ft abseil
- Bike to the foot of Old Man Coniston
- Ascend Old Man of Coniston
- Short open water swim in Coniston Water to finish
All equipment and full event logistical support including all food, snacks and drinks are provided throughout the event.
Prior to the event the evening before, we provide all challenge participants with a presentation about the event including the route, the activitites, the weather etc at our Watermillock headquarters. We also include a quick sesion in abseil techniques in our purpose built training centre on site and also spend an hour on Ullswater covering paddle technique and safety using our sea kayaks.
This amazing challenge event is aimed at groups of between 8 and 12 people and ideal for those who have perhaps participated in previous challenge events such as mountain walking challenges like the National 3 Peaks or something similar and looking to undertake something very different. The benefits of this event is that it is organised and run by a company who have 18 years of experience in running high quality challenge events so you are guaranteed a high degree of experience and delivery at the highest quality level.
