Ingleborough 723m - The 3rd and last peak. |
Ingleborough is a fine mountain located between the villages of Ingleton and Horton in Ribblesdale. We ascend this peak last as part of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge before heading south west back to our start point through spectacular limestone features including shake holes, escarpments and past Nick pot. At 723m above sea level, on a clear day the views from this lofty, commanding position can be spectacular. We access the mountain via Chapel Le Dale and across the lower slopes at Humphrey Bottom before tackling the steep grind up onto the col between Simon Hill and Ingleborough itself. The last section up the aptly named 'Swine Tail' will see you top out on the last summit and hopefully be blessed with uninterrupted views? Weather at any time of the year in UK can be unpredictable so keep your fingers crossed. The walk back into Horton in Ribblesdale from Ingleborough summit is 8km/5miles and if you have any reserves of energy left then this may be required to get you back to the finish point in under the 12 hour time. |
